Notes from this morning:
1. Outline of the film. What will equate to chapters of the film. There are 15 as of this update.
2. Spacecraft for Lunar B can be old Apollo Program Components that Big B and Seth get from a junkyard or on e-Bay....; or, the two can build a new system of launch vehicle, orbiter, lnder, and rover.
3. GGKB and I discussed briefly him being a possible evil nemesis. The race to the Moon will be a whole bunch of robots and Big B. My idea is that some of the competition could see him as an upstart threat to the competition and send attack-bots attached to their lunar payloads that go after B. B, of course, makes good and befriends the attack-bots... or, whatever...
4. Lunar B Production Blog and Photobucket..... use them.
5. Begin thinking of spacecrafting and sets/locations (what will work to provide the model sequences and the lunar and earthern-landscapes).
6. The Mission Control Scenes are in large part on me (Seth).
7. The first chapter of the film is "The Establishment of the Big B Moonshot Program".... what we're doing right now.... this first part has a few working elements in my mind thus far: a. Big B surfing the web comes across the competition and gets in the game... and/or b. Big B in his quest for resources runs into Seth, in mad-genius mode with the resources and willpower fm his own large-scale terraforming space program ideas. He and Big B figure they can balance out each others productive labours. and/or c. Diner scene(s) of the Big B program coming to life through elaborate dialogues. 1. This is the chance to do eiher diner/cafe scenes or elaborate "Apocalypse Now"- French Indochina Plantation Scenes where the scenes and meals are sumptuous. I am leaning towards this one because it is a nice, classy balancer to our slapstick.
8. Chapter 2, "The Building of the Components" can be where the dialogue-planning shifts into productive labours of the Lunar B Program. The meals should continue, with these dialogues reinforcing the chapters up until about Chapter 6, "The Press Conferences".
9. Chapter 5, "The Competition" is where we can delve more deeply into the "evil nemesis" of Big B. This is where we discuss elements of sabotage and attack-bots and so forth.
10. A big cinematic test will be the differential between Chapter 4, "The Big B Simulator" and the spacecraft during the actual moonshot, from launch to splashdown. Creatig a "Flow" of components incorporated into camera sleight and editing will be integral. The difficulty may arise in the two looking the same, whereas you want the actual mission to look extraordinary in comparison to the simulation.... then again, it's Big B and there's elements thereof...
11. On Terraforming. The Lunar B Payload will include terraforming experiments- like water balloons, flowers and plants, sun lamps, green, blue, and red glass and plastics for biosphereand garden pods, etc. This doesn't have to be functional or elaborate, it is there to introduce the ideas and give depth to character and situation.
12. There should definitely be some "Jack Ass" style stunts in the development of the Lunar B, but this is not to be overdone.
13. Big B's Return Vehicle should splash down in the American River near Cal Expo.

Big B will develop the idea on his own through a series of seguied shots that imply him and a journey to the Moon. He will then seek a 'way' and will run into me, who is working on his extravagant entrepreneurial-capitalist-industrial terraforming platforms for the moon and mars (hehe) and the median will be found here. This will serve nicely for the "Resrevoir Dogs"/"Pulp Fiction" style restaurant dialogues. GGKB, maybe you could go to the Moon with him? As I push my ideas, which are lofty to say the least, I come out of simulacra with the Lunar B program, and Big B comes out of simulacra to, well- Big B. Together, we create the necessary friction to make a good engine. This allows me to introduce all of my ideas vicariously through Big B in the building of the Lunar B spacecraft and Big B, well- he gets to have shelves on it. This is no adjustment to the outline presented, it is merely more notes on the 'way'.

"Lunar B" is underway. I sent a 512mb SD memory card to Grant and someone decided that they needed it more than we did and lifted it via the U.S. Mail delivery system. I wrote to them and they will log the report. Big B started the "Lunar B Production Blog" at http://lunarb.blogspot.com. The username is and the password is . These are administrative privelages. The purpose of the blog is to provide a central workstation for us while we are apart. Naturally, communiques about finances, matters in need of deconfliction, and such other data as deemed irrelevant to the production and public consumption will be conducted via personal communications. I want to post the emails we send each other because they are classic and integral building blocks. Annotate each email with a disclosure memo as to whether you want the email posted. The second purpose behind the blog is to develop a point of contact for the film's fanbase and to build upon it as we do the same with our own efforts. I know my mention of the production of a t-shirt and poster would seem a bit ahead of schedule, but I believe it to be good "tangible" set of items to reach for immediately and give initial constitution to one's mental stretches. Review the initial lay of credit that I have established and get back to me if you have a discrepancy. Some of the ideas that have been flowing forth:

2. I will steer away from computer graphics and stick as much to possible to models and motion-control.
3. Big B in his spacecraft: When he takes off, all his crap falls off the shelves (shelves on a spaceship... that's funny stuff).
4. The humour won't even have to be a stretch... it will unfold perfectly so long as we stick to the outline.
5. Stick to the outline, build within it. Infantry packing rule of thumb: You can add to- but not take away from.
6. Use Wikipedia.
7. If you have a camera on you and you see something that strikes your fancy "Lunar B" style, take a photo or footage no matter how obscure and label it. Then file it on the weblog or at our account at Photobucket:

11. The goal is Sundance. Hollywood will be derived from that. Should Hollywood intervene with millions of dollars before hand, we'll reconsider.
12. I know everyone hates a rigorous demand, but- if you aren't in this to win, speak up at any point and that will be that. No harm, no foul.
13. I watched "2001: A Space Odyssey" today and the moment where Bowman goes through the whole transcendent trip I had a funny that Big B on his way to the Moon (or, on his way home) could have one of those moments and then we wake him up. What do you think, B?
14. The tasks at hand, Big B is all Spacecraft Oriented.... How many components, what type, launch vehicle, rover, etc.
14a. Next, the decision of Big B going to the Moon to do a Lunar X type mission, where we outdo the competition by sending you instead of a robot.
14b. The 'Cannonball Run' idea can be on a droid level where the competition sees that we are sending a man instead of a robot and they incorporate killer droids into their own programs to take you out and you of course, fend them off and so forth.... The Hero and some good ol' action sequences.
15. Most of all, keep having fun. There will be moments where this might suck, but if we make that the base enemy... we'll do fine.
16. Last note on the production journals.... when you spend money on the project, document it with receipts and staple it into your journals. This allows for analysis of overall spending, the individuals monetary efforts, and the recouping percentages when we divy up the #1 box office smash "Lunar B".

Ottobrata Lunar Program from my Hekatebolos (Far-Strike) Program.
B, This is a description of a lunar program I laid out for Grant in December. It has some aspects of my analytical and organizational patterns and some insights otherwise in my descriptions of a script idea that I never completed. Seth

Grant, I will address the technical structure of the Mock-Lunar Program and some of the poetics that I came up with in trying to relate their functionalities as subcomponents forming in tiered-orders toward a complete operational architecture. Secondly, I will go over what was the original storyline play on "Apocalypse Now", originally entitled "An Aquarium Full of Tadpoles". I will use reverse-order description of items starting with the Moon and then working back towards Earth. The surface of the Moon would be the structural foundation for building habitations, primarily craters. The rims of craters and the edges of the Mares (Seas) would provide the structural relief. Everything would be built on the curvature of these terrain features and nothing would be built in the open flat lands. The idea behind this would be to establish a cultural theme of architecture. Any follow on cultures would probably imitate the design at first, but would then build a different way. The structures would conform to the terrain in this manner but the interior would dig back deep into the edge of the crater or mare's edge so that the deep cavernous catacombs crated could be lined with an advanced ceramic and create the seal necessary to contain the life-support systems at super-efficient levels to sustain and nurture life and particularly agrarian concepts. Intra-Surface Points Travel would still be possible by flight, but it would be much safer to create a Lunar Railways that would allow personnel and cargo to be transferred from different clusters of habitation. 'Safer' in the fact that flight would still involve the risk of spinning off into space and the railsystem could be implemented with safety features that would allow for the trains to be pulled back in by manual or back-up systems should the main power drives fail. This would instill confidence in travelers and merchants alike who would recognize the guaranteed safe-passage of their cargoes. The lay of the track would also be meant to conform to the curvatures found in the craters and mares. S-form dynamics would be commonplace. This does not mean that if a straight-line rail is the most feasible concept that it can't be done, or shouldn't be done. But, the general trend is towards forming to curves. Now, the vehicles on the Moon would be comprised of the Ordained Lander and the LICC, or Lunar Irregular Consolidated Civics, Vehicle. In the opening stages of Occupation of the Moon, the Ordained Landers would be capable of adjoining several other Ordained Landers to form clusters for support. The LICCs would be deployed prior to clustering and would be formed in a makeshift adjacent parking area. The LICCs would be loaded for initial mining operations and would house different fabrication devices for transforming readily available moonrock into composite ceramics with chemical components found on Earth that would allow such a bond to hold the integrated architectures being facilitated. The colour scheme of the Ordained Landers and the LICCs would Competition Orange and Porcelain. This sets us into the showmanship aspect of things and the visual of a brightly coloured tree in autumn. The latin sentiment for the seasonal thematics is "Ottobrata", or a beautiful October day. In lunar orbit would be the Ottobrata. The Ottobrata would be a tree-like structure from which the orange-coloured Satyr Spacecraft Systems of Clandestine Command Modules and Ordained Landers with their integrated LICCs would consolidate over the lunar surface. The Ottobrata would be the first iteration in the creation of superstructures in Earth's orbit for deployment to further reaches. The Ottobrata would be solely committed to housing the stores necessary for building on the lunar surface. The Satyr Spacecraft Systems would be able replenish and the crews would have a social system integrated within this 'trunk' to synchronize tasks and have entertainment and rest. The Satyr Spacecraft System, composed of the Clandestine Command Module and the Ordained Lander with integrated LICC would be a reflection of what I described earlier about the habitations of follow on cultures copying an original design and then reworking the 'wheel' to form a new signature effect for essentially the same concept. The Apollo program being the model here. For the Ottobrata concept, the initial Occupation of the Moon would be a grandiose falling of leaves as hundreds, if not thousands of bright-orange Ordained Landers 'scattered and fell' from the 'tree'. The effect being 'a beautiful October day' and meant to inspire and instill an esprit-de-corps even if the descending craft are of a multitude of different individuals and organizations. The Satyr Spacecraft Systems would travel independently from Earth's orbit to the Ottobrata, or as the program advances- Ottobratae. In Earth's orbit, at the outset of the program, would be the building of the Ottobrata and the docking and loading of the materials that would make for the buildings on the lunar surface: The buildings, the railsystem, the life-support systems, everything necessary to create human habitation and creature comfort so as to facilitate functional, productive life. The productivity would be invested towards creating farms in subterranean and glasshouse modules. Bring to Earth's orbit the Ottobrata's building materials, construction teams, and lunar resource packages would be the Super Pallas Athena Rocket, Turbine and Navigation, or SPARTAN. The SPARTAN was poetic license worked and reworked with the more of interest of transcendent word play than actual functioning rocket, or space cargo transport carrier. But, nonetheless- the Saturn V rocket would be superceded by this powerhouse structure that would allow you the writer, or any of the players in the integrated stroryline to delve into different aspects of flight, travel, and mchinery with the grouping of similar, but not necessarily like terms of 'rocket,turbine and navigation'. This creates an alien and transcendent thought that borders on logic and illogical functionality. But, the poetics of the Pallas Athena, being Athens, and th entire word forming towards Sparta, and the seemingly overabundance of everything is nicely countered by putting 'Super' on it. I like it. The actual structure and operational architecture of the Super Pallas Athena Rocket, Turbine and Navigation has not been elaborated on yet, but the purpose would be to put the men and materials into Earth orbit to make all of the good stuff forementioned, applicable and happening. Spaceport. The all important nexus of everything that will go forth into the Heavens and occupy the Moon and create the first Solar System Stepping Stone would be the Spaceport. I have modeled the proposed region of this Spaceport on Half-Moon Bay where Santa Cruz, Watsonville and Monterey lay. I named it Thalassa, which is Greek for "Of the Sea" and all paths of men and material would be greeted by a fully-integrated political, economic, and sociocultural existence capable of receiving vehicles of all sorts, from spacecraft returning to Earth to the arriving aircraft, trains, automobiles, and merchant fleet vessels importing the necessities and the luxuries as the program's viability increased. The People. That is a myriad of characters with different skills and hopes and dreams and levels of willingness and so forth that would come to Spaceport, or hang on its outskirts in fascination, or the ones who would go all the way to the Moon; ones that would design the systems, ones that would build them, and so forth. Thalassa, built on the curve of an Occidental Sea and rooted inland with hub-faceted spokes of pathways in and out would parallel the civil structures being composed on the Moon. Creates a nice closed loop in whic you can expand upon or collapse to focus on individual points with 'breaking the seal' of safe storytelling. That is basically what I mean when I say create a sociocultural dynamic structure, something that is plausible; create something for you to walk around in and explore. Give your element all of the working components to let your mind believe in it just enough to apply to to characters eating gorgeous meals on steamy Cambodian rivers. Good?

I named it Thalassa, which is Greek for "Of the Sea" and all paths of men and material would be greeted by a fully-integrated political, economic, and sociocultural existence capable of receiving vehicles of all sorts, from spacecraft returning to Earth to the arriving aircraft, trains, automobiles, and merchant fleet vessels importing the necessities and the luxuries as the program's viability increased. The People. That is a myriad of characters with different skills and hopes and dreams and levels of willingness and so forth that would come to Spaceport, or hang on its outskirts in fascination, or the ones who would go all the way to the Moon; ones that would design the systems, ones that would build them, and so forth. Thalassa, built on the curve of an Occidental Sea and rooted inland with hub-faceted spokes of pathways in and out would parallel the civil structures being composed on the Moon. Creates a nice closed loop in whic you can expand upon or collapse to focus on individual points with 'breaking the seal' of safe storytelling. That is basically what I mean when I say create a sociocultural dynamic structure, something that is plausible; create something for you to walk around in and explore. Give your element all of the working components to let your mind believe in it just enough to apply to to characters eating gorgeous meals on steamy Cambodian rivers. Good?

FIRST WHAT WILL BE THE FORMAT? WILL THIS BE A DOCUMENTERY, BIOGRAPHY, OR JUST STANDARD MOVIE FORMAT? WHAT IS MY MOTIVATION: PRESTIEGE, COMPETIVENESS, SCIENTIFIC INTREST, ADVENTURE, OR THE CHALANGE TO MYSELF? WHATS MY BACKGROUND, OTHER THAN MY OWN, AM I A FANATIC OR HOBIEST, AM I A MAD SCIENTEST OR AN EVIL GIENIOS, DO I HAVE LOTS OF KNOW HOW OR AM I AN UNDRSPOKEN BRILIANT ENGINEER? ALSO WHO IS FUNDING THE BUILDING OF THE CRAFT AND SUCH? IS THERE ADDED PRESURE TO WIN FROM SPONCERS, WILL THERE BE A LEAN ON THE FARM, WILL THE PRIZE MONEY PAY FOR GRAMMAS BREAST IMPLANTS, AM I GETTING TOO FAR AHEAD?DO YOU EVER WATCH THE SCIENCE CHANEL? As discussed briefly last night, B- we'll film a good amount of stuff using the webcam technique and I'll make mock mission control props on my end.... plus I have a lot of interest in being the 'mission control' guy and so forth, so that is well. The Lunar X Prize is real. What has to be determined is if we use that or go 'Cannonball Run' with it... either way, a 'Smokey and the Bandit' type scenario is good. The key to success here is easy if we stand by our premise: Big B's moonflight. When we talk it has to be on some aspect of it. It inspires legiticimacy and allows for our slapstik to turn into empathetic audience response, instead of apathy when something not plausible is intersped into the film. Also, I am totally down with, pardon the pun- but, using "B Film" techniques and allowing these sleights on screen. I envision a bridging the gap experience here.... a noble 'working man's' can-do without the 'Home Improvement' middle-class throwback. The basic steps that I sketched out today as an outline is as follows:

Establishment of the Big B Lunar B Moonshot Space Program and Motion Picture
This weblog was established on May 23rd and May 24th, 2008 due to the fact that Big B and Seth were on opposite coasts of the United States, with Big B in Sacramento, California and Seth in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This weblog was established for the production of the film "Lunar B", which stars Big B, is being executive produced by GGKB and directed by Seth Lombardy. From here, we begin the universal dialogue box for the creative element of the film and the public journey to the silver screen. Big B is going to the moon.... and coming back.
